This is a FREE training
Responding to reports of sexual violence against older adults and adults with IDD requires a trauma-informed approach. This interactive, all-day training for investigators will provide an overview of specific considerations for these challenging investigations, including:

  • Dynamics of sexual violence
  • Trauma-informed response
  • Victim behaviors/response
  • Victim-centered approaches and self-determination philosophical applications
  • Strategies for working with people with complex communication needs, as well as accommodating the individual needs of older adults and individuals with IDD
  • Options for survivors
  • Collaboration with victim services
  • Vicarious trauma
  • Self-care

This training has been approved for PS enrichment credits by the Department of Aging.

Investigators, including APS, OAPS, DHS Professionals who respond to reports of sexual violence against older adults and people with IDD
